The Sun Rises Over Charles Chapter 7 Daro

“Where have you been?” Prince Daro snapped. “You are late. It is dangerous for me to be standing out here waiting on your ass, Sire Jaze.”

The door Sire Charles took residence behind was closed, but how thick was it? Would it keep what my Sire said private if he stood near the door? I’m sure he became suspicious when I told him not to enter my bedroom without permission. If the guy was as good as I believed him to be, he’d be hunting for a reason for my strange reaction. With him, I doubt my lack of growing up under the rules of a prince would sate him.

“Prince Daro, what is going on? Did the meeting with your father go wayward?”

Sort of, but it was not for him to know that. With some time, Sire Charles would be on my side. I knew it.

“No, but for a few days, our meetings will be put on hold. You will have to hold the fort down.”

“What? No. This is your . . . your . . . I mean, you set all this up. These guys came on board because of your words and promises. Not mine.”

“That is all true, but I have to handle something with my father before I can risk going deep again. I have . . . Let’s just say, until I get the first few days under my belt, there may be more eyes on me than I expected.”

What an understatement. A pro and a half set of eyes. A set of eyes that I want on me, just not in a way that would take my coup to my father before it became full circle. I want this sexy set of eyes on my side.

“Prince Daro, Sir, I’m unsure how this will go over with everyone who comes each night to, to, to get momentum from your words.”

“Tell them that this is a part of what is necessary, and I expected a bit of a hiccup when I fully arrived. They have to realize I’ve never been here. I might be his son by blood, but others will not necessarily take that as blood is thick as mud. Tell them —”

“You come tell them tonight. Let them see you tonight and then go dark until you can come back safely. I will spread the word that all needs to be here tonight.”

“It is to risky.” I took a quick glance at the door, hating how long this conversation was taking. It was going into too much detail that could be maneuvered into a threatening conversation toward the Lord of the Castle. “You have your order. Do not come back unless it is absolutely necessary. I will reach out to you when I need you. We clear?”

Sire Jazz sighed, but nodded and rushed back to the secret entrance right outside my bedroom. I stood there a few more seconds after the passage slid closed and clicked into place. It was then I noticed that the door was ajar.
