The Sun Rises Over Charles Chapter 14 – Daro

Chapter 14 – Daro

“Sire Charles, Darren believed someone was interfering with Lord Daro’s goals and wanted to speak to him personally.”

“So,” I rolled my eyes at Jazz’s stupidity, stood, and walked over to stand beside Sire Charles, barely restraining from wrapping my arms around his waist. The urge to take him and toss him onto the bed and strip him down was driving through my mind with every breath I took. I’m sure it was going through his mind, but he seemed able to ignore it. How I wondered. The urge to bed him had been riding me hard since I first saw him. “You thought it wise to allow him to break into my room and speak to me, after I gave you specific orders.”

“Wise, no. Necessary for peace among your supporters, yes.”

“You saying that one night of him missing caused such a stir among them that everyone was going to step aside and leave?” Sire Charles side-eyed me, frowning. “Thought you had people at your side. Sounds like you have no one willing to stand at your side.”

“That’s not what I mean,” Jazz quickly backtracked. “They were not ready to defect like I made it sound. I’m sorry, Lord Daro. No one was ready to do such a thing.”

Great, my own chosen Sire is going to get me charged with treason. “Explain.”

Jazz stared at his feet as he said, “Darren ran his mouth about how he heard Lord Zarus said he was working up a betrothal between you and Thatcher Killer.”

A roar like none I’d ever heard left Sire Charles mouth. He had me in his arms and at the bed before I could take a breath. His nose was buried in the crook of my neck, inhaling deeply as it traced its way up to my earlobe and back down to the hollow of my neck.

“Oh shit, He’s your . . . you are his . . .” Darren’s words were faint and barely hearable over the snorts and growls Charles emitted.

“Hey, baby. Calm down.” I ran my hand up his back. “No one is going to get me but you. Promise.”

“No! Pince Daro!” Jazz shouted just as teeth pierced my skin in the crease of my neck.
